SYSTEMA Consulting S.A. has been engaged by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) to provide advanced procurement support for a transformative railway project in Egypt. The project involves the construction of railway tracks, signaling, and telecommunications systems of the Robeiky – 10th of Ramadan – Belbeis railway link, connecting the 10th of Ramadan Dry Port to Egypt’s main railway network.

This strategic infrastructure project will serve as a vital link between the 10th Ramadan Dry Port (DP 10) and the Egyptian National Railways’ (ENR) main network. The project is divided into two main phases: the Robeiky to 10th of Ramadan railway link (Link 1) and the 10th Ramadan to Belbeis railway link (Link 2).

The new railway connection will deliver multiple benefits:

  • Enable freight traffic from southern ports to bypass the Cairo railway node, significantly reducing transit times
  • Provide essential railway connectivity for commuting traffic between Belbeis and DP 10
  • Support Egypt’s transition to greener transport solutions by facilitating modal shift from road to rail
  • Contribute to the development of Egypt’s intermodal transport system
  • Advance the government’s plan to develop strategically located dry ports under PPP schemes

SYSTEMA’s role involves providing expert procurement support services, including preparation of procurement strategies, market analysis, and management of tender processes for construction works, project implementation support and supervision services. Our team is working closely with ENR and EBRD to ensure international best practices in procurement are followed throughout the project implementation.

This project represents another milestone in SYSTEMA’s track record of supporting critical transport infrastructure developments across international markets.
